Six Girls Track Athletes Advance to Area Meet

The Aubrey girls track team placed fifth at the District 9-4A Track and Field Championships on Thursday, April 14.

Six Lady Chaps advanced to the area meet in six events. Maria Maldonado qualified in four events.

Maria Maldonado placed first in the triple jump, and Heather Hough was second. Heather Hough was also third in the pole vault, and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. Maria was also fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

The 4x200M relay team, Maria Maldonado, Brooklyn Weier, Olivia Starr and Olivia Nkwodinma finished in 4th place, and the mile relay team, Maria Maldonado, Skylar Lomas, Olivia Starr and Olivia Nkwodinma edged their way to the Area meet with a 4th place finish. 

In the JV Girls division, Chloe Carreon finished in 5th place in the 300H finals. Abby Wright brought home a gold medal in the Pole Vault as did Claire Lillard in the Long Jump. Bryleigh Wilson had a 1st place finish in the 200M finals. The 4x100M and 4x200M relay team, made up of Claire Lillard, Abby Wright, Kylee Shroyer and Bryleigh Wilson claimed silver medals in both of the relays.
