UIL Announces Alignment for 2022-24

The Aubrey Independent School District will remain in Class 4A and Division II for football for the next two years as part of the University Interscholastic League’s reclassification and realignment for UIL competitions.

The student enrollment range for high schools in the 4A Division II for football districts is 545-879. Aubrey ISD turned in an enrollment of 840.

The UIL announced its tentative football, volleyball, and basketball districts on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2021. Schools have two chances to appeal district assignments before district lists are final. Districts become final on February 24, 2022.

The Aubrey football program will move to Region 2. In Region II, Aubrey will compete in District 5-4A against district opponents Bridgeport, Farmersville, Gainesville, Krum, Sanger, and Van Alstyne. Bridgeport and Farmersville are new district opponents for Aubrey.

“We are extremely excited about our new districts,” Aubrey ISD Athletics Director and football coach Keith Ivy said. “In football, we are now in a seven-team district and in Region 2. We will continue to play a lot of the same opponents as we did the past two years. I believe that Region 2 is the toughest competition in the state for our classification. It will be a challenge for our football program.”

The basketball and volleyball teams will remain in Region 2 and will compete in District 11-4A against district opponents  Anna, Carrollton Ranchview, Celina, Frisco Panther Creek and Van Alstyne. Carrollton Ranchview and Frisco Panther Creek will be new opponents in district 11-4A.

“Basketball and volleyball will be in a six-team district and region 2 as well,” Ivy said. “It will be an extremely competitive district for all sports.”

The remaining athletic alignments will be released no later than March 2022 with academic alignments to follow.

Aubrey Middle School will play the same schools that are in Aubrey’s football district. All seven schools have agreed to compete in all sports.
