Girls Powerlifters Place 3rd at State Meet

The Aubrey girls powerlifting team placed third at the THSWPA 4A Division 2 State Meet in Corpus Christi. Brooke McAlister was the state champion in the 114 weight class and received the outstanding squad award. Cameran Bilderback and Bela Herrera both placed second in their respective weight classes.

The Lady Chaps competed against lifters from six regions and 53 total 4A Division 2 schools. Seven of the 10 athletes that advanced to the meet placed in the top 10.

Freshman Brooke McAlister placed first in the 114 weight class. Junior Bela Herrera took second in the 165 weight class and also received the outstanding deadlift award. Senior Cameron Bilderback was second in the 114 weight class.

Heather Hough was named first team academic all-state, and Cameran Bilderback, Sydney Blankenship, Sydney Wright and Te’a Mosby were named second-team all-state.

Medals at State were given for 1st through 5th place.
